Vexillology is a related or allied subject to heraldry, so I hope you will entertain the following querry.

I recently came across an assertion that the colour or banner presented by the then Papal Legate to Ireland, Archbishop Rinuccini, to the Confedration of Kilkenny, circa 1646, is still extant and was exhibited at an army function in Ireland in 1951. The colour was apparently presented to Owen Roe O'Neill after his victory at the battle of Benburb in June 1646. If so, then this is a very significant historical item, yet I can find no depiction or photograph of this colour or banner. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Hi Chief

I found this C of A from the Palazzo Rinuccini

The archbishop came from the same family, so his arms should bear some relationship to those pictured above.
