Hello
I hope that someone here can help me with an answer to this question.
Other than the Knightly Orders( Johanniter, Knights of Malta, Venerable Order of St. John) is there a legitimate chivalric organization that an American could join?
Thank you.

An American could become eligible for membership in one of the Papal Orders. It looks like it has been 16 or more years since an American has received such an honor, however,

Well, that certainly depends on your definition of "legitimate". And a legitimate order joins you - not the other way around, for the most part. In addition to the church awards listed above, Americans have been awarded British honors, French honors, and others.

I don't think I was very specific in my earlier post and for that I apologize.
I think the papal orders are very interesting but I'm not Catholic. From what I have read in the past even if you are Catholic you must be recommended by a high ranking church official like a bishop.
I consider myself a christian and I go to church somewhat regularly but I'm not active enough in church to be recommended by a high ranking church official.
That is even if the protestant orders like then Johanniter and Order of St. John even follow the same protocol.

For the honors system it seems as though you must be a billionaire or a world famous person for one reason or another. I am neither.
Even if I were I would be more interested in a fraternal type of legitimate chivalric organization similar to the knights of Malta, Order of St. John or Johanniter.
Similar but without as strict a religious component where I would need a bishop's recommendation.

That being said how could I either join, or as the last poster pointed out, be joined by that type of organization?

Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated.

First, I think you have to be of a certain age and of a certain stature. See https://jonar242.wordpress.com/2015/05/30/dynastic-orders-of-chivalry-and-keeping-class/ If this is in place, I suggest that you contact the relevant order, show an interest and offer your assistance.

"And with his Guild medallion on, Carmer gets free beer for life in Belgium."

As long as I got free beer for life, I could care less if u recognize me as a "real" knight or not. This free beer in my hand is real, and that's all that counts!!

Work your way up to 3 or 4 star general, lead a coalition to victory over Saddam, with an ingenious strategy that also minimizes losses. If one of the nations in the coalition grants Knighthoods, and yur lucky it could happen.

Or become a paramedic, give service (and help with fundraising) to the venerable knights of st john, with luck, maybe that would work too. This order is kinda modest and does not address fellow knights as "sir".

Or give large sums to the party in power, on the very discreet down low, have a bait and switch "real reason" for being knighted and if lucky and not betrayed, it could happen.

Or just invent your own. After all, this bollocks is all just invented.
