Hi all,

I can recall seeing a magnificent painted Seize Quartiers of the arms of the ancestors of the late Grand Master of the SMOM Fra' Andrew Bertie:

Unfortunately my memory isn't what it used to be, but I seem to recall that all Grand Masters of the SMOM need be able to demonstrate descent from 16 armigers. If that is accurate, does anyone know if Seize Quartiers have been painted for the current Grand Master Fra' Matthew Festing? It would be a fascinating thing to see.

Cheers,

Sebastian

It was probably the rendition made by the mother of the late Peter Drummond-Murray of Mastrick and published (I think) by him. I think it is reprinted in Sainty's book on orders.

There is no requirement for seize quartiers per se, but there is a requirement for membership in the class of Honour & Devotion.

Best wishes,
