Help with identifying animal in image

Hi,
The image is of my family's 'coat of arms' and i am wondering what animal this is depicting.

I was wondering what the heraldic terms would be to describe it as well.

This was installed in the window in 1880's

How does one see the image?

Better to post an image on one of the Facebook heraldry groups: International Heraldry perhaps.
