I am trying to identify the arms of Capt. Henry Montolieu Bouverie who was
killed at Inkerman. I think his arms might be bottom left of the left hand
image.
Does anyone live locally who could get some better pictures?
Thanks for drawing attention to this nice display.
Captain Henry Montolieu Bouverie, 1st Bn. Coldstream Guards, only son of Lieut-General Sir Henry T Bouverie GCB GCMG; killed at Inkerman 1854 aged 24 bore on his memorial
Quarterly 1 & 4 Per fesse gold and silver a double-headed eagle sable on the breast an escutcheon gules charged with a bend vair (Bouverie) 2 & 3 Azure a fleur-de-lys gold between in chief three crescents and in base two molets silver (for Montolieu)
The memorial is on the north side in Clewer, Holy Trinity church, see P S Spokes: “Coats of Arms in Berkshire Churches”, p 144, no 22

Henry Montolieu Bouverie 1831-1854, son of Henry Frederick Bouverie 1783-1852 (by Julia Montolieu), son of Edward Bouverie 1738-1810. The last two appear bearing the arms: Per fesse Or and Argent a spread eagle on the breast an escutcheon Gules charged with a bend Vair; Crest – A demi-eagle with two heads displayed Sable ducally gorged Or on the breast a cross crosslet Argent, in the genealogy of Bouverie of Delapre Abbey, in John Burke: “A genealogical and heraldic History of the Commoners of Great Britain”, vol. 2, pp 7-8

The Pleydell-Bouverie family, Earls of Radnor, also displayed the Bouverie arms albeit quartered with those of Pleydell and Fox-Davies: “Armorial Families”, 7th edition, 1929, vol 2, pp 1561-2, where they are described as “the ancient arms of Bouverie and confirmed and allowed to be thus borne by Royal Sign-Manual 1798”

According to Rietsap: Armorial Général, tome 1, 1884, 275, the family of de la Bouverie, of the Principality of Liège, bore “De gueles à la bande de vair”

So, after a bit of enlargement, I see Captain Henry Montolieu Bouverie's arms are second row from bottom on the left hand side of the right hand panel.
Hope this helps
